The need for medical care for the uninsured is still a national crisis.
Even after the passage of health care reform, millions of Americans will remain medically uninsured. Most without insurance will be the "working poor", i.e. those with low wages and few or no benefits. The rising cost of medical insurance means many small companies may not be able to afford to provide medical benefits to their employees.
Founded in 1992, The Free Clinic of Licking County believes that all citizens have a right to access medical services. Our mission is to provide quality health care in an atmosphere of dignity and caring.
Under the guidance of Dr. Donald Deshetler, our volunteer medical staff work in partnership with local businesses, community organizations, churches, and concerned citizens to help meet the needs of the underserved members of our community. The Clinic sees and average of 1,000 medical visits per years.
The patients are asked to make a $10 donations for medical services; however, no one is turned away for inability to pay.
A typical visit includes evaluation by a volunteer physician and medication. The Clinic distributes approximately $1,000,000 in medical services yearly.
Our are open to low-income patients of Licking County. Here, they will find a dedicated volunteer staff of doctors, nurses, and auxiliary volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering, the application can be found on our Want To Give page.
We are proudly supported through community donations as well as grants received from The Ohio Charitable Health Network, The Smuckers Foundation and The Licking County Foundation.
These funds go to support the operating expenses of the clinic including purchase of medications, supplies and equipment.
